DESPERATE FOR ATTENTION?

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week commenced and this is what an Australian designer did for attention. He sent some t-shirts done the runway with a message that relates to an Aussie female we all know is battling for her innocence in a very serious case overseas. Then, he apparently made an unsupported statement to the media about it and is now sitting back to watch his name get a few mentions.

GALLIANO'S BAD LUCK COMES IN THREES

Is designer John Galliano having a bad month? It all began with his right hand man, Steven Robinson who was found dead in Paris at the beginning of April. Before he had a chance to come to terms with this, he was fined and ordered to pay €200,000 in damages for plagiarising the imagery of photographer William Klein in an advertising campaign. To top it all off, it is now rumoured that Dior is planning to dump him.

I'M NOT A PLASTIC BAG

This is the "I'm NOT a Plastic Bag" that yesterday caused mayhem in the UK. Designed by Anya Hindmarch, the well known accessories designer, it was distributed to Sainsbury's supermarkets and 20,000 were sold within an hour at £5 each. Hindmarch created it as part of the "We are what we do" environmental movement where one of its main actions is to reduce the use of plastic bags. Celebrities were seen with it during London Fashion Week in February so, naturally the interest was high. If you would like one of your own, they'll be releasing a new batch in June in several colours. Stay tuned.

New York Times Editor BANNED from Italian Fashion Shows

Oops! Cathy Horyn did it again. The New York Times Fashion Critic who is well known for her bite may have bitten off more than she can chew this time. The Simon Cowell of Fashion has reportedly been banned from shows by (my favourite) Armani and Dolce & Gabbana after she described their designs as vulgar and unimaginative.
