Counterfeiters try new tactics
A commercial building in College Point, Queens in the US was raided by the New York Police Department this week and approximately US $4 million dollars worth of counterfeit apparel were seized. Some of the brands included Polo, Lacoste and Seven For All Mankind. Tags and hardware logos were also found for Adidas, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger and other well known labels. The counterfeiters found a way around US customs by bringing blank clothes into the country and finishing the goods with machines that are capable of copying the trademarked logos to precision without skilled labour and by adding embroidery, buttons and labels to complete the look.
