Manolo Blahnik honoured with a CBE by the Queen

Manolo Blahnik, the London based shoe designer that Carrie from Sex and the City always raved about, was honoured with the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) award by Queen Elizabeth II. This award is given to those who have a significant role in their industry. He was recognised for his long term contribution and services to fashion but also for being one of the most successful and influential designers of our time. Manolo was born in the Canary Islands (Spain) and opened his first store in Chelsea (London) in 1973. He is 65 years old and his Manolo's are more popular than ever.
